Home / Takata Airbags
Takata Corporation is known for making various automotive parts from seatbelts to airbags. The airbags manufactured by Takata have been responsible for approximately fifteen deaths and hundreds of injuries throughout the world. One out of eight Americans drives a vehicle with a potentially defective airbag.
In climates with high humidity, the airbags are more likely to deteriorate and combust. Once the defective airbag deploys, metal shrapnel is flung towards the occupants inside the vehicle causing severe injury. Injuries reported from the defective airbags include broken bones and torn flesh. In several cases nationwide, there have been metal and plastic fragments removed from passengers’ necks and faces.
Around eight million vehicles have been subject to a recall because of Takata’s defective airbags. In lieu of the already recalled vehicles, there are nearly eight to ten million vehicles that may be affected with these faulty airbags.
Below is a list of auto manufacturers, whose models may be affected:
You can visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to determine if your car may be affected.
Today, Takata airbags are still being installed as replacements in used vehicles and also in new vehicles despite being one of the largest consumer product recalls in the United States.
