Alexander Shunnarah Women's Initiative

The Alexander Shunnarah Women’s Initiative continues to empower local women choosing to follow a career in law by providing an avenue for social synergy and support. The commitment of the ASWI extends outside the legal world and into the community through its various service and education endeavors focused on mentoring girls to be strong, independent, and driven women.
Below are a few photos from ASWI community service initiatives and networking events.

Rose On the Roof 2019

Another amazing evening for these trend-setting and trailblazing women of law at ASWI’s annual Rosé on the Roof! The event was full of celebration, networking, and, better yet, FROSÉ.

Champagne Joys & Toys

The Alexander Shunnarah Women’s Initiative hosted the Champagne Joys & Toys event in November 2018, collecting hundreds of toys to be donated to the YWCA! It was all made possible by the dedicated and giving women attorneys at Alexander Shunnarah Personal Injury Attorneys, P.C. and women lawyers throughout Birmingham. Thank you to everyone who contributed and donated to this heartwarming event. Special thanks to attorney Stephanie Balzli for the beautiful flowers and educational champagne talk.

Rosé on the Roof

May is for Rosé! The Alexander Shunnarah Women’s Initiative members invited all of the hard-working women attorneys in the Birmingham area for a night of networking and empowerment in May 2018. This gathering featured some amazing Frosé (Frozen Rosé) and a Kendra Scott pop-up shop!

Service Project with Cumberland School of Law

The first service project of 2019 for the Alexander Shunnarah Women’s Initiative was with Cumberland School of Law first year students at Girls, Inc. The ASWI teamed up with young women who were 1L's and the two groups worked together to clean up the Girls’ Inc. facility.  Upon completion of the service project, the ASWI took the young women out for happy hour in celebration of the days’ efforts.

In December of 2016, ASWI members raised funds internally for The Dannon Holiday Project. Women attorneys purchased, wrapped, and provided over $2,500 worth of Christmas gifts to families at The Dannon Project, and $400 worth of gift cards.

Judge Elisabeth French joined attorneys at the March Alexander Shunnarah Women’s Initiative networking event.

ASWI members invited all of Alexander Shunnarah Personal Injury Attorneys to participate in a clothing drive for My Sister's Closet in partnership with AROVA Contemporary Ballet. All Alexander Shunnarah offices in the Birmingham, Alabama area participated in a friendly competition between buildings to see who would donate the most clothing items. Together 1,688 items were donated to My Sister's Closet. Pictured above: one office collection area.
