About Katie

Katie Tait Copeland began working as a legal assistant at Alexander Shunnarah Personal Injury Lawyers in June of 2015 after graduating from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and French. In August of 2015, Katie began law school at Birmingham School of Law, where she earned her juris doctorate in August of 2018. While in law school, Katie began working as Mr. Shunnarah’s personal and administrative assistant for the firm, where she served as a liaison between firm staff and administration. Upon passing the Alabama State Bar exam, Katie now works for the firm as an attorney where her practice is focused on personal injury cases including premises liability and motor vehicle accidents. After working at the firm for nearly 5 years, Katie has worked in most positions at the firm and has years of experience with client service and case management. Katie works in the Birmingham office.

Katie was born in Savannah, Georgia, but raised on the bay in Mobile, Alabama. She is now married to Hoyt Wayne Copeland, II who is also an attorney in Gadsden, Alabama. Katie and Wayne live on Noccalula Mountain in Gadsden and have three dogs. She is an active member of the Gadsden Service Guild. Katie and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with their families.
