M Ross Huffstutler

I was involved in an auto accident which left me with permanent injuries due to a distracted driver. My dissatisfaction with the legal service I received is what led to me wanting to practice personal injury law. That way I could provide those who were in my prior position much better service. I feel fortunate to be in a position to help others and enjoy what I do. I’m always motivated to find the solution for any problem, never taking no for an answer. That’s the drive to get the possible result for my client.  I’m very proud of the work I do. In my free time I spend time with my beautiful wife and daughter. We support multiple charities including Mended hearts affiliated with Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonalds House. I’m also an avid outdoorsman. I enjoy hunting and fishing.

Anthony Shunnarah

I was born in Birmingham, Alabama where I graduated high school and attended college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. From there I went on to law school at Birmingham School of Law. After graduating and taking the bar exam, I moved to south Alabama where I started practicing law. My background in sociology motivated me to want to help individuals who have been adversely affected by trauma in their life such as a car collision, fall, product injury, work injury or even a tragic death in the family. I try and keep my motivation alive through the everyday conversations and experiences I have with my clients, fellow lawyers and judges throughout the State of Alabama. I’ve been able to secure settlements of up to $700,000 for my clients. Out of the courtroom, I enjoy fishing and spending time with friends and family.

D Michael Elkins

Like many personal injury lawyers, I cut my teeth working for the insurance companies but soon found that much preferred working for the other side and have worked representing the injured exclusively since 1988. I see myself as a problem solver. Each client’s case may have several problems, my job is to work until all of those problems are solved. I have always been an argumentative sort of guy. Considering that I spend most of my workdays arguing with insurance companies over my clients’ claims, this personality trait serves me well. There is no better feeling than bringing someone over to my way of thinking, be it an insurance adjuster, a defense attorney, a judge or a jury. The best recognition to me is the fact that so many former clients have returned to me and have sent their family members and friends my way. My hobbies include a love of popular music that I developed at an early age and am still an avid collector, and genealogy research. I have traced my ancestry in this country back to the 1600s and have almost 50,000 people in my family tree.

He majored in biomedical sciences and set on his path.

In 2005 John’s life took an abrupt turn. Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast region, taking with it everything John had come to know and love. He watched as the community around him struggled to rebuild their lives. Much

of his family and close friends were left with nothing but a slab where their house once stood and they needed someone to turn to after having been denied insurance coverage. He became fascinated by the arguments for and against insurance coverage of the wreckage. John felt the impact attorney’s have on society firsthand and witnessed their ability to help change lives and stand up for those in times of need. It was then that he decided he wanted to become one.

John returned to South Alabama with his new found interest and inspiration. He excelled in his academics and learned invaluable skills through his various leadership roles. After college, John attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he again excelled academically and honed his courtroom skills through his active participation on Trial Board.

After graduating, John met one of the managing partners with Alexander Shunnarah. He was immediately drawn to Jay’s explanation of the philosophy of the firm and felt a personal connection with their passion to represent those in times of need. John knew this was what he wanted to do. He now works for the firm and demands the most of himself while representing individuals against the powerful to help their wrong be righted.

John is an avid outdoorsman, who enjoys fishing, camping, and boating. He participates in sailing regattas regularly and is currently working towards obtaining his pilot’s license.
