The food giant Kraft Heinz has recalled a select Capri Sun drink popular with children.
The voluntary recall was issued on Friday after learning of contamination by cleaning solutions in some batches of the drinks.
The recall is for approximately 5,760 cases of Capri Sun Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend beverages.
All products affected are 6.6 fluid ounce drinks packed in paperboard cartons.
The cases shipped to retailers included four cartons shrink-wrapped together.
The company said only flavored Capri Sun products with a “Best When Used By” date of June 25, 2023, are being recalled.
A diluted cleaning solution used on food processing equipment was inadvertently introduced into a production line at one of our factories, prompting the voluntary recall.
The issue was discovered after Kraft Heinz received several consumer complaints about the taste of the affected product.
The company is working hard with its retail partners and distributors to remove potentially affected products from circulation.
If you bought any of the Wild Cherry drinks, you shouldn’t consume them, and you can return them to the store where you purchased them.

This is not the first time problems with Capri Sun juice drinks have made the news. In 2018, a father in Indiana complained that he found mold floating in the strawberry-kiwi Capri Sun his child was drinking.
At the time, the company said the mold was an “isolated” case that grew because of a hole in the pouch.
